Go green!!! @greengearspgh
When in one of his many travels Paul Kletter saw his first pedicab, he immediately fell in love with the idea of bringing them to Pittsburgh. Finally in 2009 Green Gears pedicabs became a reality to all Pittsburghers. Pedicabs, bikecabs, cyclos, becaks or trishaws, are human-powered vehicles, in which a bicycle is attached to a two-wheeled main cart which seats one or two passengers. Pedicabs have minimal impact on the environment by offering an emission-free solution to traditional vehicles and have proven to be extremely useful in highly populated areas.
Co-owned by Paul Kletter, Green Gears pedicabs is conveniently located in the Southside and usually caters to the areas around Carson Street and Station Square on the weekends. But besides the Southside, you can also find these pollution-free vehicles in many other local hotspots like Lawrenceville, the Strip District, and downtown Pittsburgh.

info@ggpedi.com | Paul@ggpedi.comThey have rapidly become extremely popular in high density urban areas because you don’t need to worry about parking and they can easily dodge traffic allowing you to always be on time - simply hop in and hop off :)
One thing that I really like about this is that if you are looking forward to be different and explore the unexpected, you can always use their services on your wedding, bachelorette party, birthdays, city tours, corporate functions or public festivals. How cool would it be to arrive on a rickshaw to a birthday party or purely to pick up groceries in the Strip! It is totally unpredicted and a fun ride.
What's more about the fantastic experience of the ride is that these untypical (for most of the US) forms of transportation have been revealing themselves as outstanding marketing machines and effortless advertisers. By taking advantage of its uniqueness and unexpectedness, customized banners can be added to the vehicles and help promote businesses, events and new products. This technique is very popular on taxi cabs and buses in major cities, however, most of us interpret a bus or a cab as a part of our daily lives; they are a part of our everyday scenery and something we are used to see. Instead, being surprised by a rickshaw in an unpredicted place automatically catches your attention.
To sum up I think pedicabs are great additions to any city; they are a pollution free way of transportation, very sustainable and therefore eco-friendly. Surprisingly, they can be used for more than simply transporting passengers, but also as a successful alternative to traditional advertisement devices. They give western cities a touch of distinctiveness and eccentricity due to its remote origins and unforeseeness.
